Home grown fried green tomatoes, cooked to order burgers (with the mildest onions you will ever eat) and Townsend's best french fries made for a great meal. Our server, Hallie was exceptionally helpful and pleasant. Great food and great service combined to provide a most enjoyable evening at the Trailhead.
Unless you enjoy waiting, plan ahead and make reservations! If you like wine with dinner, make sure you bring a bottle with you. -

On a busy night I would recommend reservations. Monday night 6:45 we had a 10 minute wait, looked over the menu and made our decisions. Really liked the atmosphere, clean rustic and a tad upscale. I know I just messed with someone. Staff: well trained, courteous and some of the best we've ever experienced.
We started with 1/2 order of Fried Green Tomatoes, corn meal breading cooked just right with a wonderful light ranch dressing. Glad we gave them a try, one of the best bites of the night. We both ordered the 10oz Ribeye's, medium & medium rare. This is the only place I had a server ask me to cut into the steak before leaving the table to assure it was cooked to our liking. Good move. Great flavor, lots of fat & some connective tissue. We both could not Finnish our steak (yea our bad) and they have a 16oz. Baked potato is a baked potato )am I being obvious( good. Broccoli Cheddar Soup, ok. Caesar salad, good. Rolls, hot and a little sweat, but good.
We would return on our next visit to the mountains. -

Great food!! Will def be back when in Townsend again! We were recommended by a couple of locals and so glad we were. Great steak and atmosphere!

We came for lunch at the tail end of lunchtime after a 1/2 marathon that probably doubled the population of Townsend. Even so, the service was great as the food was hot and tasty. I'd go back anytime!

We were on our way to a craft fair in Townsend, TN and decided to try this restaurant for lunch on a Saturday.
They open at 12:00, and there were already customers standing in the parking lot waiting to get in. That's usually a good sign, right? Luckily, we didn't have a problem getting seated right away. The inside is a bit rustic, but it was cozy enough and had a mountain cabin vibe to it.
My husband loves potato skins, so we got those for our appetizer. They were good and tasted a little different than your every day potato skin, but in a good way. We both got burgers for our lunches, and man were they delicious! It was a juicy, meat patty that tasted like it was perfectly cooked on your back yard grill. He got fries as his side and they were hot and crisp. I had the salad bar with my burger and it was pretty good.
Our waitress was nice and took care of us. The staff all seemed friendly and engaged with their customers.
We will be back!
